On Saturday, November 20, close to 50 members and their friends met at the Britannia Youngstown Community Center for our Fondue and Games Night. The hall preparations started around 4 o'clock and at 5 o'clock the first guests arrived at the decorated hall, Swiss music playing in the background. Time for welcoming the guests and for some visiting. And then, the kitchen team went to work (as if they had not been working all along). Soon, the first caquelons steaming with tasty fondue started coming out of the kitchen. As many of you may know, a Swiss proverb states "Viele Köche verderben den Brei" (too many cooks spoil the broth). This proverb was definitely proven wrong. AGAIN! The fondue was very tasty, indeed. A Nussgipfel and coffee gave a nice ending to the meal. The pleasant ambiance set the stage for some extended visiting with old and new friends. Some avid Jassers were soon seen shuffling their card decks. As the music played, some of us recognized Swiss hits from our days in Switzerland. Yes, we all had a good time and we are looking forward to the next event. A big THANK YOU to all the volunteers who made this event a success. Without you, events such as this would not be possible.
